Donor Registration Removal

Each year in the US, over 40,000 lives are saved when people say “yes” to organ donation.  You can say “yes” to donation by joining a donor registry or, if you do not register as a donor, your legal next of kin can make the decision after death. No matter how one becomes a donor, some important facts remain true:

Fact: If you agree to donate your organs, the hospital staff will always work hard to save your life. Medical professionals would never “let you die” because you are a registered donor.

Fact: Deceased organ donation can only happen after you have died. Your death has to be confirmed by medical professionals who are not part of the donation and transplant process.

Fact: There’s no age limit for donating organs. The decision to use your organs is based on the health of your organs, not your age.

Fact: Even people with health problems can donate organs. Medical experts will decide whether any of your organs can be safely transplanted into a patient.

Fact: When it comes to people who need a transplant, the rich and famous are treated the same as everyone else. The computerized waiting list does not prioritize based on how well-known a patient is or how much money they have.

Fact: The organ donor’s family never pays for hospital bills that are part of the donation. Those bills are paid by the donation and transplant organizations.
